Every day of my service was a day in paradise. I struggled to sympathize with my peers; trainings were notorious for volunteers to share complaints about service. The mosquitos! Too much fried food! The beaches are covered with seaweed! What a beautiful life. I considered myself privileged. I spent my days co-teaching English to primary school students, volunteering for weekly story times, or facilitating a chess club. I also led our school's participation in the first annual Creole competition. Weekends were for free diving, catching lion fish and grilling them on the island. Bar hopping in town and socializing with the local women. A dream.
